HR Generalist
We are seeking a detailed, dedicated and highly motivated HR Generalist to join our dynamic and growing HR/Operations team. This position will collaborate closely with HR leadership, management, and employees and play a vital role in shaping our company culture, supporting employee development, and ensuring smooth operations and compliance across all HR functions. The HR Generalist will provide comprehensive support across all areas of Human Resources including but not limited to the employee life-cycle, compliance, training initiatives, employee engagement, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits and leave administration. Additionally, the HR Generalist will help streamline processes, cross-train with other team members and assist with recruitment, payroll processing, cultural programs, and company events. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, analytical, proactive, adaptable and a self-starter with excellent follow-through, strong Excel skills, and the willingness to handle both transactional HR duties and strategic initiatives. Salary: $70,000 – 90,000

Work Location: West Los Angeles, CA - we offer a flexible, hybrid setting where employees work both from home and onsite. Our current schedule requires working onsite in West LA on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Key Responsibilities

Work with VP, HR & Operations to plan, develop and implement HR programs, policies and procedures and ensure legal and company compliance.

Assist department with day-to-day HR operations related to staffing, onboarding and offboarding, responding to employee inquiries, employee relations and conflict resolution, training & development, engagement & culture, compensation, benefits and leave administration, maintaining HR records, supporting payroll processes and enforcing company policies and practices.
Compensation, Benefits & Leave Administration
o Administer employee benefit and wellness plans and serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, assisting with enrollment and changes.
o Coordinate annual open enrollment and facilitate benefits education initiatives to enhance employee understanding.
o Help manage and administer the 401K Plan including enrollment, rollovers, loans, annual audit and 5500 filing.
o Maintain compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, and other benefits-related regulations.
o Assist with Leaves of Absence (LOA), coordinating with TriNet (PEO) to ensure proper tracking and compliance with FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, state disability (SDI), benefit/COBRA eligibility and workers’ compensation regulations.
o Assist with annual salary surveys and pay data analysis and evaluate current comp levels and salary bands.
o Help administer Annual Merit and Bonus Programs and evaluate requests for Promotions.
o Provide backup support for payroll processing ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with wage & hour laws.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
o Manage Annual Performance Review process and provide guidance to managers on goal-setting and feedback.
o Coach managers and help them navigate and document employee issues with progressive discipline.
o Construct and implement Performance Improvement Plans (PIP’s)
o Effectively mediate and resolve workplace conflicts by facilitating open communication, promoting understanding, and implementing appropriate resolution strategies to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Training & Development
o Assist in the development, implementation and tracking of employee and management training programs, including compliance training, effective communication, leadership development, DE&I and wellness initiatives.
o Implement mandatory compliance training initiatives related to the prevention of harassment and discrimination, workplace safety and violence prevention, ergonomics and other safety and compliance topics.
o LinkedIn Learning: assist in curating company-wide and individualized training programs, leveraging monthly challenges to boost engagement.
Employee Engagement, Culture & Events
o Research and respond to employee questions and concerns with professionalism and confidentiality.
o Assist with administering Annual Employee Engagement Survey, analyzing data and preparing PowerPoint presentations.
o Assist with the planning and coordination of company events, employee engagement initiatives and support efforts to improve workplace satisfaction.
o Help develop content for quarterly HR Newsletters and assist with managing company intranet.
Staffing
o Provide backup support for recruitment by assisting with job requisitions and postings to attract qualified and diverse talent, evaluating candidate pipeline and helping coordinate interviews.
o Assist with hiring interns and further developing Internship Program
Records & Compliance
o Maintain accurate employee records, process employee status changes and update HRIS systems as needed.
o Review policies and practices and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and recommended best practices.
o Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
o Provide HR reporting and data analysis, utilizing Excel and HRIS systems to track compensation, headcount, and compliance metrics.
Required Experience

3-5 years of HR Generalist experience with direct experience in compensation & benefits administration, training initiatives, employee relations, engagement and compliance regulations.

Proficiency in payroll processing and HRIS systems.

Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis, etc.).

Solid knowledge of employment laws, wage & hour compliance, and benefits regulations.

Demonstrates proven ability to streamline HR processes and improve operational efficiency through innovative solutions.

Extremely detailed, analytical and self-motivated. Able to work in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple priorities while providing excellent customer service.

Ideal Experience
-
Experience in fast paced environments of rapid, organic growth and/or expansion through mergers & acquisitions.

Exposure to compensation analysis and HR policy development.

Hands-on experience with 401(k) plan management, Form 5500 filing, ACA reporting, benefits and leave administration.

Knowledge of TriNet, Lattice, NetSuite, DocuSign, Cognito Forms and Monday.com a plus.

Previous experience in entertainment, media, or creative industries is a plus.
