Comparison of J2EE and .NET

I ran across an article comparing J2EE Struts and ASP.NET while I was looking though java.blogs today. I have not had a chance to read it yet, but I wanted to throw the link out there to see what other developers have to say about this topic. I have had many conversations with coleagues and friends of mine on roughly the same topic, just not so specific, and from what I can tell, there is no clear cut winner. Each platform has it's strengths and weaknesses. Anyone who has ever used both platforms and tells you that one is definately better than the other, is letting their emotional attachment to one language/platform get in the way.

It will be interesting to see if they conclude one is better and which one since this is an article posted on Microsoft's website. I'll post my thoughs on this comparison once I read the article.

i skimmed the article a bit. it seems to draw correlations between the 2 frameworks. they know not to say "java's bad, mmmkay?", but they make statements like "caching is left to the developer". since we come from different backgrounds, the java programmer says, "yay, i'll pick it myself," and the .net developer says, "yay, it already provided.". it could be a pro or a con depending who you are.

i think they're trying to show similarity to convince people to port struts projects to .net, since there is a specific section on that.

Well, I just read the article and was pretty disappointed with it. Although it's pretty much exactly what I expected since it was written by M$. They tend to point out all the weaknesses of J2EE/Struts and then counter that with a ".NET solves this by...". That's all fine and dandy, but the strengths and weaknesses go both ways. I'm positive that with enough investigating, I can find the same article written from the perspective of a J2EE/Struts developer that rips .NET apart.
