While reading a posting on Leo Laporte's Blog (Tech-TV host of Screen Savers), I came across this site urging people to delete the mp3's off of their computer and send the files back to the RIAA. I have to wonder if this is real or a joke. It is apparently sponsored by a parents group trying to teach kids that stealing is wrong. Ok, sounds legit enough. But then again, mailing, faxing, or emailing the files or the data from all the files has got to be huge!!! I have to wonder if it's not a way to get the RIAA to STFU and quit there whining and get with the times and start to offer music digitally instead of charging $15 or more for a CD (1 or 2 good songs).

I think it's very much the same as sending your junk mail back to the sender in their own postage paid envelopes, only you have to pay for the postage if you go the non-electronic route. Not only is it a pain in the ass for the recipient, but it costs money too. Maybe if the RIAA is too busy cleaning out their mailboxes, they won't be able to go after people.
But maybe they'll just hire a bunch of trained monkeys to delete the email and turn around and nail everyone that sent mp3s to them. How much more guilty can you get? You sent them your mp3s and screamed, "Hey, I downloaded all of this copyrighted materials!" It's asking for trouble, I think.
Wait, is this your blog or mine? :)
